Hi, I’m Audrey,

and I am excited to become a mother…again. My son, Joshua came to me through open adoption as a baby. Opening my heart and home to a child through adoption was definitely the right choice for me.

Two of the most important things to me are Family and fun. Whenever I ask anyone to describe me in one word, they usually say, “Funny.” I am a big kid at heart. I always like to have a good time, and I love to make people laugh! I even dress up every Halloween and go trick or treating with my son and his friends.
I have so much more love to give, and I'm looking forward to welcoming another little one into my family.

Thank you for taking the time to let me introduce myself to you. Looking forward to talking to you!

Who I Am

I grew up in a close-knit family of five with one brother, one sister and both parents. My parents were both high school teachers, so education was very important in my house. My father had an amazing sense of humor. My friends used to love to come over to hang out with him! My mother was more of the quiet type. Her favorite room in the house was the kitchen. She was known for her delicious cooking. I am a good mixture of the two.

In college, although I majored in Business, I realized my love for children while spending time in the Early Childhood building on campus. After speaking with my aunts, who were both elementary teachers, and my parents, I decided to get my master’s degree in Elementary Education. I’ve been teaching now for over 25 years. Every year I instill “we are family” in my students. I also want them to feel comfortable telling me anything. And they do. I still speak to several former students who come back to visit me and are adults starting their own family. I love being able to share those moments with them.

Adoption Diary

Teddy

We recently added a new addition to our family. Teddy is our 1-year-old Shih-tzu puppy. He is full of energy! When we first met him, he was so playful. He wouldn’t sit still. He will turn anything into a toy…paper towel rolls, shoelaces, belts, the list goes on and on.  I grew up with dogs all my life and wanted Joshua to feel the unconditional love of a pet. He was the perfect fit. We named him Teddy because as a puppy, he looked like a teddy bear. He loves to play with his toys, go on long walks, meet new people and snuggle. Joshua has taken on the role of big brother, and helps with Teddy by feeding, walking and playing with him. We are still working on Teddy being fully potty trained and learning new tricks.
After getting Teddy, it was clear to me Joshua would be a great big brother to a little child.

Colleagues turned family

I was very nervous when I began working in my current school district. There were approximately five new teachers for my building on the first day of orientation. One of them I already knew from my old district. We spent most of the day getting to know the building and each other. One of the other new teachers, Stacy and I hit it off instantly. We realized we had a lot of things in common, like favorite snacks and sports. We also knew some of the same people. Little did I know he would end up being a lifelong friend who I consider a big brother.
As the school year went on, we quickly became close with another teacher, Stephanie. We became so close that even our students became close! We did everything together, from performing class plays, to going on field trips, planning fund raisers and working Saturday Academy.  Not only do we hang out at work, we also hang out outside of work. We have attended each other’s weddings, baby showers, and any other major life event. We are truly family. They are both anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new little one.
